Audio-based Quran app for blind and visually impaired
Ana Atlou is an audio-based Quranic application designed specifically to empower blind and visually impaired users, people with special needs, and illiterate users to listen to, learn, and reflect upon the Holy Quran with ease, without the need for external assistance or reliance on additional accessibility tools. The app focuses on making interaction with Quranic content fully accessible through audio and touch gestures. It is built on a specialized navigation methodology that uses a set of touch gestures combined with audio guidance, enabling users to: - Browse the digital Mushaf. - Navigate between surahs and verses. - Seamlessly listen to audio recitations, tafsir, and spoken translations. Ana Atlou also offers additional features that support a simple and user-friendly experience, including: - Voice shortcuts for quick access to content. - Continuous recitation of an entire surah without verse-by-verse interruption. - Support for multiple recitations, including different narrations such as Warsh and Qalun. - The ability to save passages, verses, and reciters to a favorites list. The app also includes a built-in fallback screen reader in cases where audio files are unavailable, and supports core accessibility tools such as VoiceOver. By relying primarily on audio interaction, Ana Atlou enables future expansion to additional spoken languages and dialects, broadening access and making reflection on the Quran available to a wider range of users.
